The folks who'd dismissed and parodied Dylan in the preceding years ate crow as this disc proved Bob could still peel off a casual masterpiece without breaking a sweat or changing form since he'd last worked miracles two decades earlier. If the Dylanaissance since then didn't always rise to such standards, there was enough sharpness in his writing to sustain an entire second career, yet to abate.

Am I the only one who thinks that a crucial element is missing in the new mix? Without the production element of Daniel Lanois the album feels amputated. To me the original album is still one of the highlights of his career.

Friday evening, beginning of the weekend, & I’m #NowListening to the 2022 remix of #TimeOutOfMind by #BobDylan as included in #Fragments.

I’ve had this on hard rotation for the last few weeks & listened to it alongside the original mix. Each have their own character, but - imo - the remix wins out. It’s clean, it’s intimate, & Dylan’s voice is where it should be: front and centre.

Sunday afternoon & I’m #NowListening to #Fragments, the latest installment from the #BobDylan #BootlegSeries.

This first disk from the Deluxe 10 LP #vinyl edition is a remix of the #album #TimeOutOfMind.

I’ve many thoughts regarding the set (mostly positive), but the remix is, for me, a highlight. I don’t see this as replacing the OG, but it does reveal elements otherwise hidden under the #Lanois treatment. This #RyanKSmith cut is spacious, rich & dynamic.

#NowListening to #TimeOutOfMind by #BobDylan. I’m reacquainting myself with this ‘90s masterpiece while I wait for FedEx to deliver the 10 LP Deluxe edition of Fragments from the Bootleg Series.

I’m halfway through the album & there is so much good stuff here. I know that Dylan was never really satisfied with the Lanois treatment on this album, but I do think it works. It overlays swampy apocalyptic mood over the dark themes of Dylan’s writing.
