I can’t believe nobody has even mentioned that it could be an automotive part for the future carplay interface they showed last year.
Would not be the first time they had something running iOS controlling a display.
And, an official Apple part would insure the performance they surely want associated with “carplay”.

That Elon quote effectively kills FSD on all <2023 cars:
“…the cost and difficulty of retrofitting [FSD] HW3 with HW4 is quite significant. So it would not be, I think, economically feasible to do so.”
Cue to more upcoming FSD (class-action) lawsuits.
