We have eight weeks of school left, and somewhat predictably, I get this e-mail from a student who has been failing all year:

"tell me what I can do to improve my grade"

My reply included the following suggestion:

"Stop sitting around and doodling in your workbook."

Seriously... if you don't try to engage in the lesson, how do you learn anything?
