"Does Springboard help to learn other languages?

#Pupils were invited to decode the #French sentence:
'Les oreilles de l'éléphant sont très grandes et le nez est très long.'

The only #children to successfully translate the whole sentence were, interestingly, from #School A [who never had French lessons before]; these 2 children used interesting #metalinguistic decoding strategies (cognates, punctuation, context).
School B children [who had been learning French since Year 1] performed only marginally better (...)"

In #England, in a "pilot test", #Esperanto was taught to Primary #School pupils.

In an #English lesson, they got the exercise to encircle the adjective in a sentence.
Many of the #pupils translated the sentence to Esperanto, as it was much easier to understand, which was the adjective.

So, by the use of Esperanto, English literacy can be improved in #children's native language learning.
