Nice to get some orchestra time yesterday even though I was freaking tired (watch registered 2 hours of sleep the night before).

Sabre dance! Last time I played it was more than 30 years ago as an arrangement for percussion ensemble. I recall all the notes very clearly, although I can't remember if I played them on the xylophone or vibraphone ๐
Timpani doesn't get the melody but has the important job of keeping time. Still fun, but I almost want to switch parts with xylophone ๐

I mentioned #ClaraSchumann in a recent list of favorite #composers, and this Romanze from her #PianoConcerto, written before she married Robert, is a beautiful example. Interestingly, the entire slow second movement is piano unaccompanied for the first half, then the #cello solo joins. #Timpani connect to the finale in a #MusicTheory flat sixth: A-flat major with an F-flat major spelled as E major, dominant of the main key of A minorโจhttps://youtu.be/-OKa_5fQ3QI

My view is pretty cool, but it's mostly the back of people's heads. You'll get a better view of the orchestra from the audience and more importantly a better sound!
