The canvas feature in #Obsidian is a dream. I dragged a few notes to a blank canvas and was able to synthesize an idea blending notes from both the personal belief and the professional research sides of my knowledge graph. The result--a new intention for the new year. I could've always done this with #DevonThink and #Tinderbox, I guess, but this was a much more enjoyable trip. I can see the need for more discoverability tools, though. #PKM

@erikaybar that's impressive! Both, as you say how it holds up with a large canvas (replacing what I've been using #Tinderbox for heavily over the years), and how you use it for review (going to mimick that I think)

@ctietze I agree. Org-roam v1 has a good naming convention (and handles mass-renaming pretty well). v2 obviously uses org-ids. I think org-ids (and nodes instead of files) might be a much bigger hassle later on, if one decides to move from #Emacs to any another system like #obsidian, #roamresearch... For world-building (depending on the scale) #Tinderbox or #Scrivener might also be good options.

@flockofnazguls have you looked into #roam? I own both, #DevonThink and #Tinderbox. Former to as a repository for all sorts of documents, the latter when I have lots of info that I need to sort through and organize. Roam is where I put my day to day notes

There is nothing like working with #Tinderbox and #DevonThink (for Mac) when it comes to getting insight into a new topic. Collect the papers, put them in DevonThink, drag them in Tinderbox and arrange and annotate as necessary until a somewhat coherent picture emerges!
