Totally enjoyed this first season of #TinyToonsLooniversity way more than the Animaniacs reboot. If this is the direction of the new show, sign me up for plenty more new #TinyToons!

Other quick thoughts:

-Sam sounded better this episode.

-I like Furball's new voice. I don't think he could talk in the original outside of cat noises, and this one sounds good.

-I'm glad the background shots are filled with unique extras, there's some fun designs in there.

-The Granny bits are already getting overplayed. They could've rolled those out a little slower and gotten more mileage out of her.

-Li'l Sneezer feels like they were directly transplanted from TTA compared to the other characters, both in design and the limited personality they've shown so far, to the point where it feels weird. #tinytoons #TinyToonsLooniversity #tv #animation

The weirdest thought struck me watching Episode 2. Out of all the cast, Babs seems the most different so far. And different is fine, but what hit me is... Sweetie is like 90% Classic Babs. The personality, the intonation, they had it, but presumably intentionally moved it to another character so they could do their new Babs approach. It's interesting, not necessarily bad, and it does mean you still get the old with the new. #TinyToonsLooniversity #TinyToons #TV #animation

A couple things struck me about Tiny Toons Looniversity Episode 2 (and it's kind of surprising these episodes are full 21 minute ones instead of fully split into A/B's) is they clearly already had a read on my Fifi concerns when they made it. They draw her as a prominent background character so many times, on at least two occasions she teleports positions between angle changes just so they can draw her into both shots. I thought that was a compromise for not being able to feature her directly, but then they gave her a random extended line. Guess they wanted to build up Sweetie first. Oh my glob! All 10 episodes of #TinyToons Looniversity are up today on Max. Original intro song with modified new lyrics too. One big change from the start that may bug old school fans is Babs and Buster are now twins, so no more "No relation" gag.

Also, on a lark I watched the first episode of Bugs Bunny Builders (who consistently call themselves The Looney Builders to the point where it was probably the original title), and even though it's labeled for preschoolers, it's actually not that bad? It's like a simpler version of a Tiny Toons episode, ironically. Daffy is leaned into being the wacky one pretty well (a good day for ducks), Foghorn as the aloof mayor is pretty good. Lola is the only iffy point, and not because I don't want here there, but A. She was stuck in the role of being responsible and huffing while the others got carried away, and B. Everyone else had their "main" voices but her, who sounded nothing like any of her past appearances. She almost sounds like Classic Babs at times. Watched Tiny Toons Looniversity Episode 1, and honestly? It was fine. I'm glad the cast is more expansive than the new Animaniacs. Sweetie getting upgraded is strange but I like her here. Plucky leaning even more into Theater Kid is great. The Babs/Buster twins thing is still weird, and it was the primary theme of the episode. Most of the voices are good, but Yosemite Sam's isn't quite there. I'm concerned Fifi hasn't spoken a line yet and doesn't appear in any of the episode thumbnails. It's true she also wasn't a part of the first couple TTA episodes, I'll just hoping she's not going to be sidelined. Only other pet peeve: It feels weird how hard and rapid fire they lean into "classic toon gags" in like a nerdy way? Like they're going "Look we're throwing pies and dropping safes!" It's a weird vibe, like making it a thing you're drawing Bugs with his old yellow gloves. Hope it passes. #tinytoonslooniversity #tinytoons #tv #animation
