Who’s ready for another round of ?

Today I’m encouraging experimentation and while this can apply to all aspects of photography I want to highlight the importance of it in relation to composition.

Composition can be difficult, especially in wildlife photography where the subjects are moving quickly. However, while you may not be able to get the most perfect composition everytime, it is something you should experiment and have fun with.

I’ve ben doing this recently and have captured the following two photos.

1) Two birds almost symmetrical, one in focus, one not, sitting on a farm fence.

2) A singing but extremely small in frame.

Neither are ‘typical’ wildlife shots but after getting the more usual composition-based images, I decided to experiment. I moved position, zoomed out and tried positioning the birds in different areas of the screen.

When I got home and reviewed my images, I was pleasantly surprised with these. They turned out even better than what I was hoping for.

So…in short, when it comes to composition…experiment and have fun. You never know what you might capture.
