It's "free as in beer." I'd gladly pay a few bucks a month for something like this. They are dealing with spam and 💩 . It's worth it!

@ChristyCeeCK I think maybe #mastodon already took off. It has been sailing along for a number of years now. It doesn't look like that other place and it doesn't act like it either. Support your admin and #TipYourServer because these things don't just pay for themselves with toots and boosts.
But your microblog will be welcomed and your words won't be weaponized by others who seek to make money thru targeted, 'entertaining' harassment.

@kriskosach yeah. It's not just you. Each server will have its moments of struggle. If you haven't yet, and you are able, it is a good idea imo to find your server admin and if they have a way (they should have) #TipYourServer
The costs can of running an #instance can really add up quickly with so many new people.
