Tonight, April 14-15, is the 111th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.
I did an extensive video on the meaning of this event: what happened, why it matters, and what its connections are to various parts of history. Almost no professional historians care about the Titanic; the fascination with the disaster is driven almost exclusively by popular interest. The historians are missing something. It *is* hugely significant.

Tonight 111 years ago the Titanic struck an iceberg at 11:40 pm (ship's time) 14 April 1912 on her maiden voyage and sank 2 h 40 min later on 15 April 1912.
