Wait till you read about how in ‘59 the properties of were discovered?

“One of the systems, nickel-titanium alloy, immediately exhibited considerably more [fatigue-, impact-, and heat-resistance] than the other eleven alloys. … In 1959 Buehler...named [this nickel-titanium alloy] NITINOL (Nickel Titanium Naval Ordnance Laboratory). That same year he made an observation about [NITINOL] that hinted at the extraordinary, but still undiscovered, property of Nitinol. I distinctly remember my very exciting discovery of the acoustic damping change with temperature change near room temperature.”

I used to carry hollow Korean stainless steel , but they aren't very strong and can get dented during transport, so I switched to solid as soon as Keith Titanium started offering them on Amazon.

In my gear, I also keep a set of Bambu chopsticks, as well as a spatula (the middle one) from Bambu's "Kids in the Kitchen" utensil set, as utensils.

I am reminded that I want to add a Snow Peak SCT-125 "foon" to my other Snow Peak utensils. I always carry the SCT-001 set (fork, spoon, knife), plus the famous SCT-004 . The SCT-125 was introduced some years ago, but I never got one. The SCT-004 spork is one of the most successful products ever; almost everyone who goes or has owned one at some point. But, the spork is not very good at pickup up , so the was introduced.

Looking at others that at least make an attempt at types it most seem to just ignore the "if it isn't a valid iri" bit.

The RDF-rooted implementation has no check in place for it in the IRI resolve and seems to just expect an IRI there framagit.org/zoggy/ocaml-rdf/-

does as well: github.com/filip26/titanium-js

I'm not as familiar with and they haven't marked sections, but they seem to have treated it as an optional value and not potentially invalid: github.com/timothee-haudebourg

That dome from looks remarkably intact - as does the ring that it bolts onto.

No sign of the porthole, nor the composite (carbon fibre) body.

No surprise, really, but I guess that's why most normal people don't build submersibles out of carbon fibre.

Anodizing is an electrolytic passivation process used to increase the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of metal parts, and different voltages leave different oxide thicknesses and thus different colors.

In Australia, Dr Tingting Song and Professor Ma Qian have been doing some incredibly clever things with 3d printing titanium. Their process removes the need for vanadium and aluminium and uses oxygen and iron instead. There's more work and testing to be done, but that's extremely exciting.

Scientists found a way to 3D print a titanium alloy family with
- manufacturer able to program to make it have different properties in different areas of the item
- use of iron and oxygen instead of other, expensive elements
- ease of recycling compared with current alloys.
Neat.
