In 1998 Nova released a series called Secrets of Lost Empires, where they replicated ancient construction techniques. Here villagers of Ollantaytambo, Peru demonstrate how giant megaliths used in Inca construction were likely moved: through brute force. Some stones found in the area even have drag marks underneath. Inca ropes could also hold thousands of pounds.

How did the Inca & Tiwanaku era builders construct their megalithic stone walls?
They would construct ramps to help move the stones into place.
Father Cobo, an early spanish chronicler, witnessed this technique firsthand by Indian workmen employed on the construction of the Cuzco cathedral.
Shown here is an unfinished chullpa (tomb) from the Lake Titicaca area.
