In the game #Conquest: The Last Argument Of Kings, by #ParaBellum games, the Old Dominion is a unique faction in any fantasy setting I've seen. They are basically undead Byzantines. What is fascinating is that in my opinion it is a very explicitly contemporary Greek take on both the fantasy tropes and the Byzantine Empire. In a very strong sense, the empire is Undead in our national consciousness, in the way the Church permeates our culture. Just fascinating.
