These damn things don’t even need to lurk in water, and love nothing more than to mass together and latch onto sleeping travelers. They inject a lethargy inducing toxin into those they bite, and feed in peace before detaching once bloated

Sure, an adult human can probably cope with one bite from these arachnids, but these things swarm large targets and can deliver multiple bites, cause their victims to drop into a coma, and possible death.

Nine Spiked Snail
If you’re character is unlucky enough to fall upon, step on or accidentally grab one of these docile gastropods, and get punctured, and fail a type G hazard check, then you’re in trouble. While the neurotoxin doesn’t kill the victim, it does slow them to half speed and only allows them to act every second turn. In the ruins, that usually means death.

Jumping Wood Tick
Another tiny terror from Excavator Monthly Compendium’s bestiary.
These ticks are huge compared to regular specimens, and start at 3cm but can bloat to 7cm when full of your blood. These buggers can jump 6 meters to latch onto passing prey.
