I found myself in the odd position today of having to explain to an adult man how a toaster operated.

I arrived here over a week ago as part of the vast musk-to-tusk migration, so it's time for my #introduction.

I grew up in #dublin, but I've lived in #seattle for 30 years. I'm #bisexual, married to @EmmaSimone since 2000. I write software for a living—currently #python infrastructure at Stripe. I read a lot. I adapt #jamesjoyce #ulysses for staged readings. #toastmaster. #cycling. #photography. Someday I will resume #woodworking.

One of my #toastmaster
groups meets early on Saturday morning. I did well despite the stress of the week that refused to be compartmentalized, and the relative lack of sleep last night.

I'm going to keep working on my initial speech rather than try and start the new one cuz he wants to hear about food after Thanksgiving right?

But I'm going to do that later right now I'm just going to take care of myself and do whatever feels good for another couple hours.

I did a #toastmaster today. I forgot how to do it or I was down. I made a lot of small mistakes tonight.

I got a speech role next week. This is going to be the last one for my manual book. I will put extra energy on this one.

I talked with a new member today. She was a kind of celebrity in her country. She hosted a TV show. I do not have much time to talk but I will ask more questions to her next time.
