Okay here's a really stupid idea - has anyone built a thing to sync a #todotxt format document against one or more JIRA endpoints
I'm currently learning API's. I'm thinking about making a plugin for @obsidian to allow people to use #todotxt with it. I've seen from the forum that it's been tried several years ago, but wonder if this might work again? Would it be of any interest to users (no promises)?

In a fit of nostalgia, I've installed gForth on my Pixelbook for a little play and now have to think of something amusing to do with it. I last used #forth on the Commodore VIC-20 in the 1980s and have forgotten everything beyond basic stack manipulation. I think having a crack at writing a clone of the #todotxt CLI (http://todotxt.org/) might be good for a laugh.
#Taskwarrior vs. #TodoTXT (Todo.TXT)
Sound off!
I've been using my own system which is mainly just $EDITOR and a script that takes out completed tasks every day by grepping out lines that begin with "X "
The problem is that it would be nice to just see a couple most important tasks at a time, instead of having a blood-chilling text file FULL of todo items in your face all day 😅

My favorite #todolist is just #todotxt files with a dedicated client app that streamlines the syntax for easier input.
The issue is finding apps for #Mac, #Android and #Chrome ( #Vivaldi actually) that play nice with one another. Most apps hand off sync to either Google Drive or Dropbox, which always adds some complexity and incompatibility issues.
Just setup #Nextcloud sync, which might be the missing piece to bridge #Sleek for Mac and #SimpleTask for Android.

@avi It probably does not fit your bill, but I have been using SimpleTask for about two months now with good success.
I sometimes wish there was a way to get something like an Eisenhower Matrix in there somehow, but maybe there is an extension or I simply haven't figure out how to do it yet.
What speaks to me is the relative simplicity of the todo.txt format.
So I am trying to get a proper #todotxt setup and so far it has been a real pain.
I managed to set up sync via webdav with Simpletask on Android. That breaks once you work offline but it is somewhat workable.
I managed to mount webdav using rclone.
Now I am trying to find some good program for the Linux desktop and I have narrowed it down to effitask and qtodotxt2 but neither seems to work particularly well. Also effitask was a major pita to set up (because via todo.sh).
Recommendations?

@ilyess I use #SimpleTask for todo (uses the todo.txt #ToDoTxt format).
Notes are split across #Orgzly, #Markor and #QuillNote. Guess I can't really pick. All of them have their advantages and drawbacks.
All of these are local, and don't offer fuzzy search.

Todo.txt with the Vim plugin gives me most of these except for the first two.
+Projects don’t really do the job for me with regard to subtasks, not nearly flexible enough.
Someone recommended TaskWarrior, but it looks like that doesn’t have subtasks either?
Have been thinking about extending the Todo.txt format in some way to support subtasks, not sure yet what the best way to go about it is. Sometimes I also want the subtasks to be strictly ordered (“show me only the next available subtask in order, not all of them”), sometimes they’re fine unordered. Hmmm…

Definitely. I’ve found that I need to track those externally, or they’ll get left by the wayside regardless of how important and impactful they are.
I used to use tools like HabitRPG (now called Habitica I think), now I just use a todo.txt file with these chores and self-care habits as recurring items. It becomes a fun game for the completionist part of me, to have them all checkmarked before they go red.
This is rather nice. Good to see an actively developed todo.txt tool....
Check out sleek, a todo app based on todo.txt, free and open-source. Available for Linux, Windows and MacOS. https://github.com/ransome1/sleek
I observed, that my main drain with interacting with people revolves around those three things (events, people and messages).
In order to operate across devices, I want to use standards if possible.
That is: #CalDAV (or .ics) for events and #CardDav for people. I track my todos in #todotxt. This way, the application acts as kind of view on the formats, but I am still able to interact with other apps.

I recently came across https://www.michaellinenberger.com/blog/one-difference-between-1mtd-and-myn-how-you-use-the-over-the-horizon-section/ when I was looking into my #todotxt setup.
Might be worth a read?
Today I managed to install and configure
- my contacts (vdirsyncer + khard, formerly khal)
- my calendar (calcurse + calcurse-caldav. Might switch to vdirsyncer)
- my mail (offlineimap + neomutt)
- my todo txt (todo.sh)
Not happy with saving credentials in plain text :-(
But I can look into Lua (conky and awesome WM widgets) next!
