I’ve had the good fortune to visit the Cheewaht Cedar in Ditidaht territory on Vancouver Island. If this one a hundred kilometres north on Flores Island is properly protected along with its surrounding ecosystem, and all other old growth, I hope to visit it. An ancient wonder. A monument to the permanence of life.

What a stain on our history. It is nice to know though that many in the white community were keenly aware of the injustices of Internment and refused to play along with it.
