@stephanwind I never got to practise with her when I was visiting Cali, but hopefully some day! Very interesting that she uses the #bō. Rare in #Aikido. The ikkyo kata is very similar to #Saito's jo kata 31, and #Tohei's jo kata 1 (or 'kata 22'). Nikyo kata seems superficially similar to Tohei's jo kata 2 (but I haven't done it).

My theory is #Ueshiba probably did a sequence of movements based on feel, with some rough elements, and his students tried to formalise it, and each in different ways.
