Here is a Pit Check check from Gascoigne Wood Colliery. Part of the Selby coal field. Worked from the 1970s, with mining ceasing by 2004. Producing 12 million tons a year at its peak in 1993-4, it was originally estimated at producing 600 milliion tons, but only ended up producing 121 million tons. A Pit Check was a way of checking miners into / out of the mine, so you oculd tell who was down there at any given time. I would like to play a little with making some coin photos a little more artistic - purely for the sake of art - what hashtags might be worth using for such pieces please? if there is a "day" for photo art (like #SaturdayNightCoinShow for coins and #TokenTuesday for tokens) that would be perfect!

Werth-Marke or Wert-Mark tokens are generic tokens which were used primarily in #Germany. There is a fascinating number of varieties, although it can be frustrating to have a little information - like the A K counterstamp on this one - and know that you'll probably never find out what that stood for or who issued it. More info and pictures of other pieces at: https://coinofnote.com/german-50-pfennig-werth-marke/

Here is a 25 Centime piece from Ville de Gex, a commune in the department of Ain, in north-east #France, not too far from Geneva, Switzerland. This is listed on Numista as a coin: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces20077.html But I suspect it should be a token #TokenTuesday #CoinCollecting #Numismatics #token #coin

The Menier Chocolat company was founded in 1816 as a pharmaceutical company in Paris when chocolate was used as medicine (many would argue it still is!) It was family-run until being acquired by Rowntree in 1971. The former Noisel factory later became Nestlé's French headquarters. This token is worth 20 Centimes. #TokenTuesday #France #Chocolate

Even though this is a modern mass-produced trinket, I still like the design. It shows "Vegvisir", the "Viking compass". In fact, the design dates to a manuscript written in #Iceland in the 1860s - so not "#Viking", but still neat.
I was just going to share this one, but having found a couple of links and a bit more info, I've written up a post on it at: https://coinofnote.com/vegvisir-viking-compass/ #TokenTuesday

For #TokenTuesday, here is a "Check" from #SNCF, the national #railway in #France. A #check is a type of token, usually held by an employee, then exchanged (in this case) for a particular tool (Outillage), numbered to the employee. Not sure what the white stuff is on the 3?😟🫣

I have every intention of getting back into posting more regularly, so for a slightly belated #TokenTuesday, here is a Child's ferry pass from the Transit Authority of NSW, #Australia. Used in the 1980's, it is the same on both sides.
It's #NationalPeacockDay, so @art_history_animalia reminds me - so here is one of my favourite #peacock pieces, on a #token for #tokenTuesday it's from #Copenhagen in #Denmark - I'm not 100% sure of the use, but the #Tivoli Gardens is an amusement park which contains a peacock theatre. This is a nice size, 31mm piece made of brass. Same on both sides

Here is a 50 Heller #TokenTuesday piece from #Austria, 1915-6, during #WWI. Filed on Numista under Confinement tokens › Work encampment token, it was issued by Arthur Krupp AG of Berndorf. The bear on the token is a pun on Berndorff (Bärendorff - Bear village) as well as part of the company logo. Berndorff is in Austria, the property of Arthur, son of patriarch Hermann. One specialty of the factory was imitation silver cutlery.
The piece is 21mm diameter, made of zinc.
#Introduction Hi everyone, I'm a #numismatist. I enjoy collecting & learning about #coins, #exonumia (#tokens, #medallions, etc), & #banknotes. I've also got into #PNC & #PMC collecting lately (Postal #Numismatic Covers & Postal Medallic Covers, like a first day cover stamp release envelope, but with a coin or medallion as well). I try to post photos & information about interesting pieces regularly, especially #MedalMonday, #TokenTuesday & #SaturdayNightCoinShow, but not only. I'm in #Australia
