there seems to be a bug somewhere between #tomcat session replication (tribes), #k8s headless service and #istio ...
excluding inbound and outbound port 4000 seems to fix it.
my bet is that istio does not correctly updates it's knowledge about headless service ipv4 addresses if there are changes in the membership...

Spent the night trying to get my head around the Akai Tom Cat drum machine. It, um, does not play nicely with the Beatstep Pro.

I got just about everything sorted except for the toms, which, you know, are kind of the whole point of the thing.

It's a lot of fun to play with, but I wish Akai had made even a cursory effort at documentation.

For AI to be a valuable tool, it must be trusted. And trust only comes through verification. If verification can't be done, then AI can't be trusted.

In a prior post I wrote that I asked ChatGPT the following question: "how do I setup ssl on a tomcat server in server.xml".

1. To answer the question, the following had to be known as separate things: SSL, tomcat, tomcat as a server, the file server.xml, and xml.

2. Also to answer the question, there had to be an understanding of a relationship between the things above.

As a user then, I had to verify that both 1 and 2 were correct before accepting that the answer may be valid.

For AI to be trusted, the user must be able to ask a follow set of questions, such as:
- What went into answering the question?
- What is SSL, tomcat, etc.?
- What is the relationship between the following: SSL, tomcat, etc.?

This short experiment shows that AI output must be verified, at least in this example.

I had previously posted that I asked the question: "SSL Setup on Tomcat"

It produced a short guide and the xml code.

I then asked: "Tomcat Keystore Setup"

It also produced a short guide and xml code.

I noticed that the output SSL connector configuration XML was different between answers.

I then asked: "Why is the connector xml different in the question SSL Setup on Tomcat and the question Tomcat Keystore Setup".

It then put out: "I apologize for the confusion caused by the previous responses. The correct configuration for the SSL connector in the server.xml file in Tomcat depends on the version of Tomcat you are using. For Tomcat versions 7 and above, the SSL connector configuration typically looks like this: ..."

Which was the second example.

In this third question it noted tomcat versions have differences.

ChatGPT AI Experiment

As I've mentioned in prior posts I think AI can be useful and can be very dangerous if not regulated, and used, correctly.

I decided to explore it today on Open AI at https://openai.com/blog/chatgpt

My first experiment was entering the following question: "how do I setup ssl on a tomcat server in server.xml"

Surprisingly, it produced a short user guide, including the SSL HTTPS connector configuration XML, that looks correct, or at least close, which I plan to verify later.

This is an example of where AI can be helpful, in science and technology.

For those not in the tech world, SSL and tomcat is a colossal pain in the a** to deal with. Having a reliable tool that can help in complex technological situations would be very good.
