RIP. Apart from his radio work he used to be the stadium commentator for the #Tomintoul Highland Games. A grand job he made of it. A sad loss to lovers of the #Doric tongue.

This event is, we think, unique to Tomintoul and originated in distilleries where the warehousemen indulged in a little light relief at lunch time competing against one another..."

A distant relative died recently in her 90s. Another of the #Tomintoul diaspora. She came to #Glasgow in the 1950s and worked as a community midwife...in the #Gorbals. And yes she got about the #NoMeanCity streets on a bicycle. Respect 👊. She donated her midwife's bag
(something straight out of #MaryPoppins) to Glasgow Women's Library @womenslibrary... and a "string bag"...to use in weighing the bairns👶 🤣

Another #Tomintoul anecdote, not for vegetarians. Seemingly back in the 1950s or so there was a #Butcher shop on Main Street. The shop was on a plot of land and at the other end from the shop there was a 'killing shed'. So the butchers were also doing their own slaughtering in what was effectively their own back garden. Then as iff that wasn't grisly enough they used to burn the carcass remnants and chuck them into a pit behind the shed. See fresh meat?

Housing in Moray: Praise for affordable homes in Tomintoul
Delighted to see this housing development in my mother's village of Tomintoul. Really hope some young families get them. This scheme tries to tackle the usual rural problem of buy-to-let 'holiday homes', seasonal not occupied year round and then the local folk not able to afford to buy property.

Just been watching #Skyfall again. I've always wished that a #JamesBond film would use #CorgarffCastle as a filming location - strikes me as a great place for a winter shoot out with the baddies.
