Time for an update on my #AOTY2023 list, because there has been some activity.

#KingGizzard received a boost and is a serious contender for Metal AOTY.

#Blackbraid entered very high, but is currently not a contender.

#SwarfDamage from Manx is worth a listen.

#MammothWVH migth get a boost soon, because their songs are stuck in my head since my first spin.

Apart from that some good (3,5*) and solid+ (3*) albums have been added.

What a chance find! I'd rate the album 3,5 out of 5 (good album) after one spin, but it strongly leans towards a 4.

Will be placed in the upper third of #TomsAOTY2023 list for sure!

Am I an #QueensOfTheStoneAge fanboy? Yes.
Am I biased when reviewing In Times New Roman? Yes.

But:

This album hits all my sweet spots. It is reduced to the best. Dry and melodic. Short, hard, simple riffs. Era Vulgaris part 2? No, better! Villains is long gone, the desert is back!

In Times New Roman is a masterpiece, 4,5 out of 5.

#Enslaved has a lot to offer on Heimdal. So many different elements so well put together.

This is very difficult to rate after 1 spin. I'll give it 3,5/5, leaning towards 4. BUT: I don't think that this will end up in my rotation on the mid-long term - hence the slightly lower rating.

So, where will it be placed on #TomsAOTY2023 list?

I'll put it on a shared #5 spot with Memoriam at the moment. The one I'll listen to more this year will win.

I'm starting to like #Godsmack's new record more and more. I'll probably should put it on #TomsAOTY2023 list, so I'll give it a full spin now, then let's see where it will be ranked.
