The original rendition was recorded by American singing duo Diane & Annita and released as "Groovey Kind of Love" on the French EP One by One, in 1965. "Candida" was the first single released by the American #popMusic group #Dawn, with vocals by #TonyOrlando, in July 1970. The song, written by #IrwinLevine and #ToniWine, was produced by #DaveAppell and #HankMedress for #BellRecords. Appell and Medress originally recorded another singer on the track, but decided that a different vocal approach would be preferable. Medress then approached Orlando to do the vocals.
