New trick I learned lately: Rules

I hade a large text with lots of changes I was not interested in and only some changes which are important to me. (Diff over Unity Engine logs for builds with non deterministic prefab packing).

Rules helped me to reject all non-important lines and only search changes in important ones. You can use rules too!

thinking about what to highlight for todays #toolstuesday - Any helpful tool (Art, Programming ... ) is welcome! Any sugestions?

On today's #toolstuesday I'd like to highlight "IL DASM". The IL disassembler - comes with visual studio and has an UI.

Why would you need this? E.g. you'd like to check for all unused prefab overrides for your Unity project.

Unity has a UI using a private API for it and you'd check each scene and all (nested) prefabs

IL DASM makes it easier to find the symbols of the API and use them with the help of reflection.

A happy (very late) #toolstuesday to all of you. This time a trick to break and attach the Visual studio debugger the moment a program starts on Windows.

using gflags (coming with Debugging Tools for Windows) https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/gflags
- start gflags
- navigate to the Image file tab
- enter the executable name in the Image field and press tab
- check debugger and put in "vsjitdebugger.exe"
- click OK
- now everytime the program of given name starts the debugger selector will come up

Again: the idea of #toolstuesday is to share cool tools/techniques for anything - doesn't need to be tech related. Can be for art/general learning... anything that's useful to you and what you do. Come and share the joy of having good tools!

@Donat I use screentogif as well specifically to make GIFs to attach inline into bug tickets.
For ad hoc recording I installed the xbox gamebar and it comes with a recording tool (hotkey Win+Alt+R). Using these for longer videos #toolstuesday #tools

@RichardKogelnig Screen to gif is very helpful to quickly capture a gameplay moment to share with coworkers. Easy to create, edit, lots of files extension, few good features.
