Goodbye, #Windows 11... I've officially made the switch to #Ubuntu 23.04 Lunar Lobster. I've been spending the day getting things configured to my liking, including trying out a #Mastodon client called #Tootle. Not sure how accessible this will be for daily use, but I'm giving it a try anyway.

Teste gerade #Tuba, einen Fork von #Tootle unter #Linux. Macht insgesamt einen guten Eindruck: zügige Performance und optisch unter #LinuxMint ansprechend.

Zuvor habe ich #Whalebird ausprobiert. Das Programm hat mir aber insgesamt zu "träge" auf meine Eingaben reagiert.

Nutzt ihr unter Linux einen Desktop-Client für #Mastodon bzw. das #Fediverse?

probiere gerade #tootle auf einem sehr alten Gerät aus. Wie von mir erwartet funktioniert dieser lokale Client besser als die aufgerufene Webseite. Letzte ruckelt und stottert weil die Hardware mit dem Inhalt im Browserfenster überfordert ist. Toots verfassen macht so keinen Spaß.
Tootle ist einfach da, kein Ruckeln, kein Stottern, jeder Tastendruck innerhalb von nicht spürbaren Millisekunden auf dem Bildschirm.

Wieso geht der Trent gleich zur WebApp weg von lokaler Software?

#MastodonClientReview , #Tootle … Moving on to Tootle. First thoughts are that the UI icons are very small, even on my iPhone Max screen. And there are just A LOT of them. I like the idea of “surface everything we can” and I’ll hope for settings around that, maybe.

@LunaDragofelis It’s unclear if “Toot!” (with a bang) differs from “toot” as a linux CLI tool.

#Tootle is also a client but the project was recently abandoned.

Double checking, is #Tootle the only mastodon app that will let you save drafts on mastodon for iPhone and are there none that will let you schedule toots? (Yes, I know there are ways to do this on a computer)

@s4mdf0o1 I appreciate the list you linked. Of those apps, the only one in official Debian repos is #Tootle, and that project just died 3 months ago so it will not be in the next Debian release. From there, the only official #Debian app I’m aware of that will stick around for the forseeable future is called #Toot, a CLI & TUI app.

Was gefällt: Die Anwendung kann sehr einfach in den Dark-Mode geschaltet werden. Das bietet sich insbesondere unter Gnome mit Adwaita-Dark an. Außerdem kann die Schriftgröße der Beiträge skaliert werden.

Dank einer Terminal-Ausgabe konnte ich #Tootle so halbwegs fixen. Wie bereits berichtet, ist mir die Anwendung immer abgeschmiert, wenn ich ein Bild öffnen wollte. Der Fehler: Aus irgendeinem Grund konnte es den Ordner ~/Downloads/Tootle/Instanz-Name nicht anlegen. Da dort aber die anzuzeigenden Bilder gespeichert werden sollen, hat Tootle immer aufgegeben. Ob man nun aber möchte, dass jedes angezeigte Bild sofort auf der Platte landet, wage ich zu bezweifeln. #Mastodon #Fediverse
