Kein anderer Song hat mich 2022 so intensiv begleitet. Er war überall und transportiert genau die positive Grundeinstellung, die ich dringend brauchte. Mein armer Partner kann ihn jetzt notgedrungen auch mitsingen, weil ich ihn im Auto je-des-mal voll aufgedreht habe, wenn er lief. "I'm way too fine to feel this stressed yeah" sing ich außerdem jedes Mal vor mich hin, wenn ich ne nervige Mail kriege.

I have tons of good memories of that song. Blasting it, singing it completely out of tune, using it as the major theme song for our trip through the Californian desert. Lizzo is a gem, I've never heard a bad word about her and I love what she stands for. But mostly I just love the song. Pure positivity.

Es fühlt sich an als würde ich cheaten aber Charts sind Charts. Lineare Zeit gibt es nicht mehr, jeder Song könnte jederzeit charten, ich lieb's. Und ganz ehrlich? Klar wurde der durch Stranger Things erfolgreich, aber kein anderer Track aus der Serie hat das geschafft, weil kein anderer *so gut* war. 10/10

This song hitting the charts was the best thing about 2022. I'm not a big fan of Stranger Things but for once it used the power of nostalgia for good. People discovering Kate Bush is always a beautiful thing to witness and I have a lot of fond memories of that song that came back to me every time it got played. Which was a lot.

Adele - Oh My God

Adele's songs are usually melancholic as fuck, filled with hurt and bitterness, so this was quite the surprise. A good reminder that the feeling of being in love can be just as powerful as any heartbreak. I generally love her voice and listened to the entire Album a lot this year, but as I Drink Wine didn't really become a hit and Easy On Me breaks my heart every time I hear it, this one's the obvious pick.

Doja Cat - Vegas

The best sample of the year and also just the energy I needed. I haven't seen that Elvis movie but I hear the moment this song drops is hilarious. It put a big smile on my face whenever it got played on the radio. Also I originally misheard the lyrics "fraud player" als "frog player" and was kinda disappointed when it turned out I was wrong.

Von Taylor Swift bis zu dem Alphabet-Song hat die Popwelt ja viele blumige Arten, Liebeskummer auszudrücken, aber keine trifft so zielsicher wie ein einfaches "If you wonder if I hate you: I do", wenn es so ehrlich und dabei so übernächtigt klingt wie hier. Sorry, SZA, I've been there.

I have recently realized that SZA is, in fact, a really good artist. This song feels like a night without sleep and she sounds so genuine. If I ever have to write about heartbreak this goes right into my mood playlist for the entire scene. Es nervt mich, wenn Popsongs als Gay Anthems vermarktet werden, aber textlich so uneindeutig sind, dass man sie getrost im Radio spielen kann, ohne Tante Erna zu beunruhigen. Außerdem sind jammerige Sad-Boy-Balladen das letzte, wofür ich nen Popsender einschalte. Lil Nas X ist also quasi das Universalmittel gegen alles, was ich an Pop nicht mag. I genuinely love how uncreepy this song is. Most romantic pop songs make me feel like the guy is way too invested and would go into full existential crisis mode should the girl reject him.
