Nine years ago, two of my friends made a wager (yes, alcohol was involved). One said that by 2030 the #Toronto #Maple #Leafs would win the Cup. $1000.

One of those friends is now very very uncomfortable. My money is aginst them making a #stanleycup bid THIS year - as a #Torontonian I remain steeled against my inevitable spring disappointment- but their current performance certainly nudges things closer.

Last night, streaming #TheGreatCanadianBakingShow instead of writing letters of rec (don’t judge) I was delighted by baker Andre, #Torontonian bodybuilder who made a great millionaires #shortbread. I was mostly delighted to learn that in addition to baking himself a #cake each birthday he also buys himself a new copy of his favourite #novel, #PrideandPrejudice .
Great timing: yesterday was #JaneAusten ‘s birthday.
