Like a torpedo through the water's roar,
The thought of them together did soar,
But the reality was a cruel fate,
With the distance too great.

A meeting that could have been so sweet,
A chance for us to finally meet.
But distance, oh distance so grand,
A barrier we could not withstand.

But still we hold on to the dream,
That someday, we'll finally meet.

Our date was all set.

I had booked her favourite restaurant, the place where they served the three tiered seafood platters, with the most delicious scallops and freshest oysters on the harbour. The table near the window, with the Harbour bridge in clear view was much sought after, but I had pulled a few strings to make this a special night.

I checked and rechecked the most important item of all. Unbeknownst to her she'd already chosen it, a brilliant single diamond surrounded by gold, that glimmered at every angle. It sat proudly on my bedside table in an oyster shell box, lined with red velvet.

I needed to sit down, the nerves were starting to take a hold and I needed to just take in some breaths before I headed out. It was going to be the most important night of my life, and nothing would torpedo it's success.
