Imagine if during times of high network traffic, #fediverse instances only needed to send a hash of the content, basically a #torrent file, to the viewer with a maximum of three, random I2P users who have interacted with the content?

Now those I2P users would serve the image to the user and not the instance itself.

This *truely* democratises fediverse.

The I2P peer-to-peer network is the best fit for this because I2P is designed to move content via #torrenting — Tor is not.

We say #TransparentTorification, ie. putting all your traffic through Tor, is fine too and for heaven's sake use #I2P, especially for #torrenting.

I am ripping my Family Guy DVDs for **myself** on my Infuse Pro (Apple ecosystem app) and encoding them to H.265; as someone who has torrented many times in the past, I have a whole new appreciation for those who take the time to do encoding. Out of 15 seasons (box set + commentaries) I am only now at 5 seasons and IIRC I got my Apple Superdrive on the 26th.

Honestly, I kinda wish peer-to-peer downloading and #torrenting were more widely used for non-illegal stuff. Like, it’d honestly be so easy to send someone a file via a #torrent client compared to having to upload it to #DropBox and then them having to download it from those servers. Literally just like #AirDrop, but long distance.

Re timing of the attack: its likely a response to being integrated into the #bitcoin network. First a #botFarm attack on #dotCon-based #messageBoards in an attemp to have I2Ps page banned. Then other network attacks followed, now zzz and their site is completely disappeared.

While #I2Pd exists and is a good, its targetted to the power user and lacks a native #torrenting client. Though, the last thing zzz did was release a standalone.
