The lovely village of Shieldaig in Wester Ross, seen from the south-west across Loch Shieldaig with the mountains of Torridon in the background. I was only supposed to do the first #munro Spidean Coire nan Clach but made better time than expected so carried on. Utterly fantastic day for which I really don't have the words to do do it justice.

There are several interesting #mountains in #Torridon, Wester Ross, #Scotland, but #Liathach, the Grey One, was the one that made the lasting impression on me. It's such a majestic #mountain.

Thereโs something about the texture of the side of Beinn Eighe that seems to attract and fascinate landscape photographers. From the ground in winter, the mountainside appears dark brown with grey upper slopes, rays of light often create bright patches over a day. On this particular day, clear skies allowed the whole of the mountain to appear almost as an animal skin.

December in Scotland can feel pretty dark. In Torridon, the dark days can be broken up by fleeting light during the few hours of daylight. Here, a ray of light hits the side of Beinn Eighe as we look towards the east with the peak of Sgurr Dubh rising behind the light beam.
