Michael continues to make amazing headway on our #FoodForest slope, getting more cacao plants in the ground every day - along with banana, plantain, and a whole slew of other trees. Nowadays he's often accompanied by our toucan babies (they're actually collared aracari). They roam freely around the property, constantly surprising us in new and unexpected places.

An update on the #toucans - Pacheco and Cara Floja (I had nothing to do with naming them 😆) have made their first flight! They're more assertively starting to explore their world.

In this video - which is of their first time successfully perching outside of their box - you can appreciate their intelligent observation skills as they take in their surroundings from a new perspective.

When I flew to Costa Rica, I was hoping to see toucans. Little did I know that toucans come in different sizes and colors!!! Seeing one toucan is not enough, other toucans look different.
My first was this chestnut-mandibled toucan bouncing around from branch to branch on trees in the hotel's garden.
