@samhainnight I lived on Galveston island for Amelia ('78) & lost everything, but rly only bc my apt faced the ocean. It wasn't that massive a storm--I just lived in a rly vulnerable spot. Alicia ('83) blew a big old magnolia tree over on my new car--that was a bummer. I've ridden out a number of big storms, but I've been lucky, big picture. To me it looks like most-likely cause is a Russian missile aimed at Ukraine that missed its target (or even a surface-to-air missile launched by Ukraine that went awry). Make no mistake - this is still super serious, but other than new sanctions against Russia, hopefully there won’t be much more in the way of escalation #touchwood
