Driving from #Dundee to see my mum in south #Fife and wondering how quickly we’d see some #tractors. Usually encounter lots in NE Fife! Today it pretty much took us to our detour on the way home to #Cupar, a town where we used to live and love revisiting. Then while enjoying a Costa #coffee we saw a huge transporter with two tractors on the back. And passed the tractor shop on our way out of the town. There also used to be a tractor repair place near our old home. #Farming #Agriculture #Scotland

This is the tractor I basically learned to drive on down in NJ when i was a kid. We used it for field work, mowing, plowing, hauling. It stayed in the barn there until a year ago when I bought it and brought it up to Boston. Now it's getting a complete engine rebuild and mechanical overhaul. New rings, sleeves, and valves, new exhaust manifold, new rear axle seals. She'll be back to work in no time.

A much overdue #introduction:

I'm a #StructuralEngineer by day, working mostly in #steel and #concrete. I do everything, but a lot more moving #bridges and #canal locks than most. Some #dams. All my stuff is old, so it's mostly about safety and reliability.

Second job: very willing farmhand for @PickwickSheprd, who I think mostly puts up with me because she was crazy enough to marry me. We raise #sheep and she trains #sheepdogs. I fix the old #tractors and help run #fences and #buildings.

A mixed bag of #weekend #todo stuff. One of our #tractors broke a drive belt, and I went through 4 belts until I found one that fit, and then turns out that belt is the wrong width, so it ate itself. Note to self - Cub Cadet part numbers are a hot mess. I'm going to call them on Monday and try and figure this out.

In other news, electrical work done, and seems okay. So that's good for now. Fingers crossed.

On to the next pile of stuff.
