We have one car, but try to be #carlite and minimize its use.
For grocery shopping, half the time we walk to the store near us. A couple times a month though we need other items and drive to a store 5 km away, which is near two others. While my wife shops at the first, I'll #longboard to the others for some extra items. Fast, fun and saves a little driving.
#TraderJoe can be crowded, but #skating past a line of cars hunting for parking, then rolling right up to the front door is always glorious.

@ThomHartmann You don't get it. Self-checkout machines are actually popular with consumers who are tired of being ripped off by lazy or uncaring HUMANS who scan items twice, or who weigh produce items while other items are still partially on the scale. If I do the scanning I can make sure that each item is scanned only once, at the price that was on the ad or on the shelf tag, and that when I put items to be weighed on the scale they are the only items on the scale.

I love #Aldi but I hate that they don't have self-checkouts because about every third or fourth time I go there the clerk makes some kind of mistake, and it is rarely in my favor. Then I have to wait for them to finish their current transaction before they can correct their mistake and give me a refund, and that's assuming I catch the error before I have left the store. As for #TraderJoe's, they don't have one anywhere near me but if they did I doubt I'd shop there.

Funny thing is that I agree with 99% of your article, you just led with a terrible example. I support automation when it is actually helpful to the consumer (more accuracy) and eliminates jobs that many people would hate (especially since MOST American merchants think it's some kind of mortal sin for clerks to sit while doing their jobs, Aldi being a shining exception in that regard). I have never agreed with the premise that high levels of employent is a good thing if the way to achieve that is by making more crap jobs that no one in their right mind would want.

#traderjoe 的Red Pepper Eggplant Garlic Spread 终于吃完了，感觉用来炒菜的话要放很多很多才有味道，今天倒了大半罐来炒肉末，感觉还可以，之前炒菜只放几勺就没什么感觉。每个配料都吃不太出来，用来上色倒是蛮好看的，红彤彤的。TJ家那个泰式青柠tortilla脆片太酸太咸，但是洒在菜上增加酸味和口感竟然不违和。按理说还可以当dipping sauce或者用来涂面包，但是我都没试过，总之不会回购了……

本来今天想做masala，但是target买的masala酱发霉了，被迫空瓶🫙扔掉了，只用过一次而已呜呜呜。这个masala口味也很mild，希望以后能买到味道更重一点的。
