Went to a #PCS #tradeunion meeting on pay today. I mentioned that we have a rolling strike mandate. Group secretary said no we don't. I said we were balloted in May on "continuing action on pay and conditions".

She said that mandate is not lawful. That's the legal advice you've been given? No, we haven't spoken to lawyers.

So whose opinion is this? She said "it's not an opinion, I speak for the GEC".

I said oh so it's the GEC's view? She said no, the GEC hasn't taken a position on this.

Grandma lived to 95, and she was singular to the last: glitteringly charismatic or BLISTERING depending on her inclination; clever; fierce; really fucking funny… and quite possibly also autistic.

She taught me to sew (and left me her #sewing machine - still in weekly use).

She handed down the #tradeUnion tradition she inherited from her dad.

Many employers, including Lloyd's Bank, discourage their employees from joining a #TradeUnion and make doing so "officially" very difficult by implying that their payroll doesn't allow for it.

This is a double lie. Their payroll system *does* allow for it, and even if it didn't, you can still join any #union as a private person by setting up a direct debit on a union's website.

There's a reason they don't want you to join, and it's not that they've got your best interests at heart. #MayDay

If you're self-employed, freelance or in the third sector, obviously there's no #TradeUnion for you, right?
