She is one of India’s most well-known sitar players, and she likes to bend genres, merge classical Indian music with pop, jazz, and other styles and genres.

In 2003, Anoushka Shankar was the youngest nominee in the GRAMMY’s “World Music” category; now, at 41, she has released ten studio albums and played with artists like Sting, Lenny Kravitz, Thievery Corporation, Nitin Sawhney, and on Herbie Hancock’s collab album “The Imagine Project” with Chaka Khan and Wayne Shorter.

Also, she is the daughter of Ravi Shankar, the most famous sitar players of all times (who was 61 when she was born and gained worldwide recognition in the late sixties when playing with Beatle George Harrison and classical violinist Yehudi Menuhin), and by that connection also half-sister of Norah Jones.

Here’s “Bright Eyes”, which, according to genius.com, “is the first track on Anoushka Shankar’s 2020 EP ‘Love Letters.’ This highly personal EP is an artistic expression of her pain and sadness after her husband left her for another woman. ‘Bright Eyes’ specifically finds her wondering whether her husband will use his old pet name for her for the woman he is with now. This track features singer Alev Lenz, who sings on four of the EP’s six tracks.”
