This reel would make more sense with music!

Made on Insta, set to the music of D'Ye Ken John Peel.

Not that one...The one with the coat. 'With his hounds and his horn in the morning.'

It's an old Cumberland hunting song.

And the music went when I downloaded it.

Anyhow.

My point is I'm a lot more involved in the scene in my home county these days because I admin for a wonderful community over on FaceAche.

Love spotting write-ups about them. šŸ¤©

TIL: it's standard for authors to have to pay for the rights to license images that will appear in their books, even if the book is published by a trad publisher, even one of the Big Five.

I've been and with in mind for years, but I recently got a idea rattling around in my brain I can't seem to get rid of.

I feel like this is a subgenre fairly exclusive to but all my publishing research had been in trad pub up till now.

So I'm coming to you all to ask questions & start a discussion: Any advice for someone newly looking into self publishing? I don't intend to rush this, but would love any resources or advice anyone has to offer!

@jacob finish the draft, set it aside for 6 weeks, go through re-read it, make developmental edits, maybe start over, make grammar and line edits, get a few TRUSTED beta readers, do another round of edits, hire a professional editor, do another edit. Decide if you want to or . Prepare to be told NO a lot itā€™s okay. Keep writing

An , on this first day of trying this new thing out.
I'm a freelance writer, editor and book reviewer.

My research into productive authorā€“editor relationships in creative was published by Westerly 65.1.

Interested in how can find its way in a world. It's an opportunity for more rights and earnings to go to creators.

Another thing I didn't include in my is the type of books But it's a good thing not to dump too much of oneself at once?

My second novel (first ) used a technique called (it's not a genre, and I'll post more later).

Just after I'd finished writing that one, I got accepted to do a . For two years I read every academic paper and book I could find on Magic Realism.

I was researching if authored magic realism actually existed, or were reviewers/readers reading our works through the white lens. And if it existed, how did the narrative speak of Country, kin, nonhuman others, and truth-telling.

Anyway, it all became too much (Covid, isolation, family responsibilities etc) and I've not submitted my thesis.

But I published a saga that applied magic realism. And now I'm writing short stories and a novel.

More on the novel (Where the Fruit Falls, 2020) here: uwap.uwa.edu.au/products/where
