Looks like #PelgranePress just announced a new edition for #TrailOfCthulhu, which is an _amazing_ game, probably the best “classic" Cthulhu Lovecraftian game. I love it and can't wait to see how they update it and make it more accessible and welcoming to new players.

In around 20 years, I've been in the hobby, I saw three (and a half) editions of #DnD, two editions of #Pathfinder, and three editions of #WFRP. Apparently, there's also a new edition of #TrailofCthulhu coming out. And while I'm cautiously interested in it, I don't really need new editions of games I already own or play. I prefer new games tackling genres I enjoy in novel and fun ways.

"Favorite game system?"

I really enjoy running #TrailofCthulhu based on @robindlaws' #Gumshoe system.

I was a huge fan of #xfiles as a kid. Ever since, I enjoy running supernatural horror mysteries.

Gumshoe comes with a simple yet brilliant idea: investigators' skills are divided into those that players have to roll (like Driving and Shooting) and those that ALWAYS work (everything used to gather clues).

It's a simple, yet brilliant idea.

So in a traditional #TTRPG, I get that "discovery" thrill as a player in two ways:

1: The GM lays out clues for us to discover, and plans a reveal where the last piece of the puzzle slots into place. It's easy to do poorly: uncompelling clues, missing information, a plot that doesn't make sense. But when it clicks, it's as satisfying as reading a really good mystery novel. The best version of this I've experienced personally was in a #TrailofCthulhu one-shot.

6) Favorite games I never get to play?

Call of Cthulhu, specifically earlier editions. I haven't been able to get a group interested in ~10 years. I don't know any Lovecraft/Horror aficionados anymore, so no one is interested in investigating eldritch horrors. In the same vein I've never played Trail of Cthulhu, would love to give it a go, but don't see that happening anytime soon.

Our characters returned home to Boston and New York to face the fall out with their family and friends from being away for so long in Mexico and LA. Cosmic horror last week, and dealing with the stresses of relationships this week.

Étonnamment bien fait, une bonne adaptation du système de l'Appel de #cthuhu et SANS CETTE P…N DE SANTÉ MENTALE ! 🤩 Certes, GURPS #cyberpunk a vieilli, mais il figure parmi les meilleurs ouvrages de la gamme : le cocktail est réussi.🍹
L'univers ludique de Cthulhu a aussi beaucoup évolué (#deltagreen, #trailofcthulhu ) par rapport à l'époque très « classique » à laquelle ce supplément a été écrit, ça sent un peu la naphtaline parfois🤷‍♀️😑
