Week in the books with an easy recovery run on a flat as a 🥞 route on gravel bike path along a canal in Hamburg. Calm, green, no traffic - but nothing spectacular. It served its purpose. Will try something else tomorrow. 3 days on the road attending a conference.

133km and 3500m of EG for the week.

Well, darn it. I had to drop at our first aid station. It marks the first time I have not completed a race.

My hamstring locked up in the first half mile, and things deteriorated from there.

I just wasn’t able to push through that much pain, today. And I couldn’t figure out how to keep grinding uphill in that state for another 2.5 miles. The “best” my body/mind could do today was 2,200 feet of ascent in 4.09 miles.

I’m disappointed. But there’s always next year. #running #trailrunning

Fantastic Átjan Wild Islands Mountain Marathon today, although it was raining heavily for the first 3 hours, the trails were wet and muddy, the streams were heavy and the course brutal. Regardless, the sun was shining when we came to the Tjørnuvík finish line, and personally I am very pleased with my 7hrs49min finish time. #mountains #mountaintrail #trail #trailRunning #running #hiking #FaroeIslands #atjan #átjan #mountainmarathon #marathon

We moved south to the shores of Lac D'Aydat with me still hobbling slowly on sore legs. No #trailrunning for a few days. We could only have one night at this campsite as it was closing for the season. We walked the shore path then spent the hot (30+C) afternoon on a busy beach, with gentle, cooling #wildswims between bouts of reading. On a sunset walk we found another hidden beach, then returned to enjoy #France beating NZ in the opening match of the #RugbyWorldCup. Nice, leg-resting day.
