The USA averages ~1000 #TrainDerailments each year — ~3 derailments per day — and that is DOWN from the peak of ~2500 (!) accidents in 2004.

Norfolk Southern is worth ~$55B. They had pledged ~$5/person in East Palestine, OH. Rudimentary math says that they should pledge something closer to $11M/person.
