Pity the PTV app doesn't have a setting for 'alternative route'. It keeps giving me this one tram even though there's a long walk in the middle section because of track works.

Instead I'm planning to catch the number 1 tram to where it intersects with tram 12 beyond the works.

Hooray for W-class tram 888! The sighting of a W-class always makes me smile; such a great design.

And via the magic of the Internet I can tell you this particular tram originally entered service on Thursday, 21st October 1943. Eighty years later, it's still going strong on the City Circle route around Melbourne's city centre.
