Tried out the new tram from #Leith at around 8 am this morning. 10 minutes from Foot of the Walk to St Andrew's square, busy but with some seats available. Great to have this new connection to the city centre, rail station, business parks and airport, as well as to Napier University. And it's only around 300m from my front door.

I feel like I’m on some Facebook groups strictly to troll the anti-15-minute-city crowd and others who view LTNs and Trams as direct attacks on their entire family history for the last 700 years.

I mean, you have to be able to stomach key phrases like “WEF” and “Clowncil” … but it’s a small price to pay sometimes.

The trams have been running decently frequently along the new extension towards the Ocean Terminal. The smooth roll, the subtle and relaxing sound of the tram bell, loving it all.

The Drivers are training, and if I see them, I'm making sure to wave.

Now if they could only get a speed camera on Ocean Drive, that would further warm my heart.

Why is it that every new pedestrian crossing is designed to turn into a lake each time it rains, so that being a pedestrian means multiple soakings whilst you wait to cross as every driver ploughs through them?

Zero thought for pedestrians as always. How does this crap ever get signed off?

They're going to have to start hammering down on the endemic illegal parking on Leith Walk before they start running tram tests, otherwise the tram is going to be blocked from moving by the time they get a few feet up or down the Walk.

Drivers have long become habitualised to being able to just dump their cars wherever they want, usually illegally on dbl-yellows, and it's going to take an extended enforcement period to get the message over to them.

Why is it that road builders can NEVER get drainage right at drop-kerb crossings? Every one on the new Trams to Newhaven tram route is a massive puddle after it rains, so pedestrians have the joy of getting soaked by vehicles whilst they wait for a green man, and then they have to walk through ankle-deep manky ponds at either side of the crossing.

Once again, it's a loud "screw you guys" from the developers to pedestrians.
