“I have no problem with delivery people, or motor scooters, or even joyriding teenagers.
What I do have a problem with is that the bike lanes are fucking full of these things, and that the people on them often ride like assholes, both in and out of the bike lane.”
Bike Snob says it all. Including the disappointing, oblivious behavior of former bike advocacy groups like #TransAlt
Oh man I can't wait to try this once it's done! I hope #TransAlt does a group ride. https://nyc.streetsblog.org/2023/06/22/the-addabbo-bridge-protected-bike-lane-is-almost-here-seriously

So, biking home today from the playground with my 3-yo in the #UrbanArrow box, a careless driver right-hook my wife on her #ternhsd She fell, avoided getting crushed. Driver claimed not to see my wife, so self-absolving from responsibility. My wife is ok, only minor injuries (so far). I’m mad this happened, that #nyc accepts infra that allows this to happen, that my wife could have injured or killed because “that’s the best we can do”. That’s not acceptable. #transalt #PLG #brooklyn #fuckcars

Kudos to Janette Sadik-Khan for bringing bike lanes and Citibike to New Yorkers, to Transportation Alternatives for advocating so effectively for a more bike-friendly and walkable City and to City residents and visitors for ditching their car or cab or Uber and embracing the carbon neutral program with such enthusiasm. https://joel-epstein.medium.com/citibike-is-not-just-for-youngsters-cccd5c77502e #transalt #citibikenyc Rebalancing is still an issue though as at this overcrowded dock at Ash Street in #Greenpoint

We’ve always needed safe infrastructures for people, but that need is even greater as vehicles have gotten bigger.
More cars, bigger cars, more and more space surrendered in cities to cars.
In 2000, a bike-rider next to a Toyota Camry had 18 inches on either side. Today a bike-rider next to a Ford F-150 has just 4 inches.
Stolen space.

New York “City to Cyclists: Drop Dead”
Just as daylight savings hit, NYC severed the only car-protected bike lane uptown (pic), which runs along the Hudson River, connecting upper Manhattan and NW The Bronx.
DO other cities prioritize continuity of service for non-car (I.E., bike) transit?
