Okay. My search skills seem to be failing me.

I'm looking for a free tool that will:

• Accept the input of a raw text transcript.
• Synchronise that text against the audio file from a video.
• Allow me to export it as a subtitle file.

I've found tools that can do some of the tasks, or do similar activities, but not the exact ones I'm after.

It is a full #transcription and #subtitling suite that runs 100% offline, making use of Faster-Whisper (based on OpenAI's Whisper) and Argos Translate.

@globcoco @kallekn Whisper https://github.com/openai/whisper is FOSS but not the data it was trained with. It's part of OpenAI. And I have used this implementation https://github.com/Nikorasu/LiveWhisper to transcribe Finnish phone calls. It's a python app that runs on a terminal, so not super user friendly yet but you run it and it listen to your mic and transcribe what it hears and optionally translate it

Wow, this transcription service is pretty cool. Danish developers who work for a Danish newspapers built it, mostly for journalists but I've found it useful for personal use too. There's a free plan with no credit card required, for up to 3 transcriptions per month.

Definitely asked before, but what are your recommended applications (or homegrown systems/procedures) for palaeographical transcription?

Most of what I've done has been in in-house repositories, FromThePage, etc. I have some projects coming up where I need to be more self-hosted, as it were. I currently use a Mac, and my potential list includes Tropy, GenScriber, and Transcript.
