It’s presented by 2 brilliant disabled women who met online during the first UK lockdown and they have so much fun chatting to their guests plus they also do these history episodes which are my favourites (I’m biased tbh as I used to edit the #transcriptions for them for a while).It’s light hearted and a little bit silly at times especially when they start talking over the top of each other! I just love their approach which is so inclusive and they don’t pretend to have all the answers or try to get things right all the time

Just sped read through two of the transcripts that were released today by the January 6th Committee; Michael McDonald, and James DeGraffenreid, Nevada co-conspirators in the fake elector scam. My state, Nevada, is known for many things. Now violation of election law and home to more than one insurrectionist can be added to the list. McDonald, in particular, is a real scum bag. A quick google search will prove it.

There is any tool to transcribe a dialog in the Jefferson notation, used in Conversation Analysis (CA)?

- A good diarization algorithm (to split voices in a mono audio file)
- A good accuracy speech-to-text (in Italian)
- the Jefferson (or similar) dialog transcriber.

Successfully completed transcribing 10 of the 12 interviews for my research. Have to go old school for the last 2 as they are in Hindi.
Also going to present my work on algorithmic bias and journalistic autonomy on Tiktok and YouTube in #unihelsinki.

What have you noticed in the difference of quality in audio recordings and transcriptions, and the related workflow, among:

- #Fireflies

Working in #Windows, scheduling meetings in #Outlook, video-conferencing in Zoom, and using interview transcripts almost entirely for print reporting at this time.

Okay so I'm #disabled my self, specifically #blind, but because I really don't want to speak on your guy's behalf before understanding your needs fully, would some of you lovely #HoH / #hardOfHearing, #APD, #Deaf and #Deafblind folks out there let me know if this is actually something you want before I open my mouth and go blabbing about it to everyone? :D
Essentially, I've noticed that on the fediverse and even more so on the internet in general, #AudioTranscripts are not nearly as well known or prioritized as alt text or image descriptions for #accessibility. I think this is pretty F'd up if you ask me. I realize that doing good #Transcriptions is harder in some ways because most people tend to think better visually than aurally, but I also know how useful it can be for some of my HoH friends.
So the question is this. Are audio transcripts important to you? Do you find them useful? And if so, would you like to see more of them around here at least for shorter video and audio clips?
Resources, examples, or tips on how to do audio transcripts properly, especially when it comes to scope of description, or how to handle sounds, complex vocals, and music are also much appreciated. I want to know what I'm talking about a little bit before I start advising others.

Du coup j'ai décidé de contribuer à Common Voice, puisque c'est le "jeu de données".
