Very interesting piece from #transdiffusion about a UK television station’s culturally significant archive being essentially unavailable.

Seems to me that it all hinges on rights - who owns the copyright. Reform to require active claims would seem to be the best bet: “if unclaimed, use it”. Wasn’t this a proposal at one time?

The other issue - that nobody has the tapes - is better fixed if there is a financial incentive for *everyone* to maintain archives.
