Who would be interested in a course of Brazilian trans studies? 😊
We usually have courses of introduction to trans studies with mostly US American trans people, but I'm currently teaching trans studies 101 in Brazil with Brazilian trans authors. This is particularly different as we discuss the category of travesti, which is a specific Latina trans expression. The course is in PT, but I wanted to make a version of the course in English too.

The Borg Queen is, essentially, a transfeminine figure. She's a sexualized female figure with phallic tentacles and spine moving seductively, essentially bald (though possibly having symbolic hair via cords), and represents androgynous female villainy in a way similar to the depiction of transfemme tops in pornography.

I'm thinking about how the most terrifying thing about trans people to many transphobes, including transphobic feminists, is the idea of trans people having desire and trans people being desired.

I'm also thinking of how desire is perhaps a better site of resistance to trans exclusionary rhetoric than playing "who is more oppressed" (I.E. the game some play with "threat to women's spaces" and the like). We don't have to play that game.
