Hi, Mastodon! I am writing my thesis for my Master's in Social Work. Originally, I wanted to focus on butch women obtaining top surgery.

Now, I want to look at how the trans community navigates/negotiates/pressures the medical community into creating a more expansive view on gender and a less medicalized view of gender dysphoria. (ie, viewing dysphoria as a social problem, not psychological.)

Do you have sources? Do you know people who are involved?

Hi can I ask all of the trans femme people on here a #hrt question please; what is the difference between the injectable estradiol esters, aside from the length of action, I am thinking of switching to injectable estrogen, and what I really want to know is if there is any one particular injectable estradiol variant that is safer than the others, or do they all metabolize into bioidentical estrogen ?
I’m sorry to be such a bother, but my life is a little bit fucked right now, yep I know how that sounds, woe is me and all that, but this is what I get for trusting my wellbeing into the hands of what passes for trans healthcare in the uk, to clarify, after being prescribed Hrt for just over a year, I now have estrogen concentrations that are approaching menopausal levels with all the symptoms to match, and feel that I now have little other option other than to begin to DIY my own treatment, for reference I am currently using transdermal patches at 175mcg and my bloodwork shows 243.479pmol/L or 66.325pg/mL, as I’m only on a bridging prescription they will only go up to 200mcg patches, and that extra 25mcg is unlikely to get me over the minimum serum levels of 367pmol/L or 100pg/mL.
In terms of testosterone blockers I am receiving the GNrH agonist triptorelin via injection every 3 months, and my levels are as follows: Testosterone 0.7nmol/L or 20.17ng/dl and my LH and FSH are both <1IU/L.
Any advice you can offer me would be welcome,

Since the NHS doesn’t prescribe #progesterone for women like me, my doctor has suggested taking a low dose of #testosterone instead.
