TransJakarta has responded to the complaints that people suddenly had to pay to get on the brand new 500m Kebayoran Lama Skywalk which allows people to cross the Kebayoran Lama and Pondok Indah Artery intersection in South Jakarta. It had been free to cross since the opening in late January until today.

According to a company representative, the cost to get on the Skywalk is Rp3,500, the same as the cost to ride on a TransJakarta bus. That’s apparently intentional as the bridge is meant to be used only by Commuter Line and TransJakarta passengers, not by the general public.

The rep said they are looking for an agreeable solution to the matter, as the Skywalk is the only safe way for pedestrians to cross the intersection.
