I was from out on the Island like #CandyDarling, but a much more posh part. A steady reliable babysitter for the kids of household names. In the basement of Studio 54 I was catcalled. I turned around to see the lead singers of two huge bands watching me from a mattress. One of them then cried out "Oh my god! It's the babysitter." then quickly followed by "I never knew you were a guy." I was standing there in just Stevie's sports coat, my gaff hanging from my hand.

My 17 year old trans niece is attending her high school's junior prom tonight in a beautiful blue dress -- in a tiny town in a conservative corner of of a largely rural state.

I'm a trans person living in Brazil. And I'm deeply disturbed and worried by what is going on in the USA right now with this all-out attack to trans people lives and rights in many states.

I'm worried and scared for all trans people there. I'm also bracing myself. Lately, the worst of what happens in USA politics, usually happens here in Brazil one or two years later.

Seeing what is happening in the USA feels like a vision of what is coming for us.

To all trans people who live in the USA and see this message:

- We have been fighting for so long, and it seems the hardest fights are still ahead of us. I stand with you. Every inch of our rights they steal, we'll take back, and we'll take more. We'll keep fighting until we live in a world where we can live in peace, with each other, with nature, with ourselves. We're in this together.

Devastated about learning of Brianna Ghey’s tragic passing.
